  5.      The documentation for this archive is located in DocMan.TXT, which
  6. should be located in the same directory as this document.  This list of
  7. bug fixes and changes made to DocMan is in chronological order; the new
  8. information appears at the end of the document.

  10. August 4th, 1995:  DocMan 1.2
  11.  
  12. * NAME CHANGE
  13.  
  14. A limited version of DocMan was previously releaed under a different name.
  15. It was flawed in a number of ways, mainly due to testing on a limited number
  16. of computers and configurations before release.  This application, which has
  17. a new name and a new design, is meant to replace the previous version
  18. completely.
  19.  
  20. * TESTING
  21.  
  22. While DocMan has been tested extensively before release, past experience has
  23. shown that such testing is not always sufficient.  If you have any problems
  24. installing or using DocMan, small or large, please send a message to
  25. mforget@worldgate.com so that the problem can be resolved.  It is extremely
  26. important that your feedback reach Electric Storm Software, as this product
  27. cannot be improved without it.

  29. * WINDOWS 95
  30.  
  31. DocMan, like a growing number of other Windows95 applications, can
  32. automatically install/uninstall itself on demand.  DocMan also utilizes
  33. the "look & feel" of Windows95 so that it will complement your system
  34. nicely.
  35.

  38. A small bug which prevented documents from being manually added to the
  39. document list has been fixed.

  41. September 12, 1995:  DocMan 1.5
  42.  
  43. ** IMPORTANT ** -- Before installing DocMan, you must end all tasks that
  44.                    might be using the 3D control library; these tasks
  45.                    include QuickCD, CD Player, and most other tray
  46.                    applications.  To end a task, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete,
  47.                    select the task to be ended, and click "End Task".
  48.  
  49. The "Setup" module has been the bane of my career; once again, problems have
  50. been detected (and solved) with it.  To ensure more reliable performance,
  51. the "Setup" module has been given enhanced error reporting abilities.  If
  52. you experience trouble installing DocMan, you will now be told exactly what
  53. the problem is and how to solve it.  In most situations, the way to solve
  54. installation problems is to perform a manual installation.  The process for
  55. performing a manual installation is explained in the PROBLEMS.TXT text file
  56. in this folder.

  58. * NEW FEATURES
  59.  
  60. 1.  DocMan can now remove certain documents automatically.  To determine
  61.     which documents are removed, select "Options..." and then type the names
  62.     of the documents to be removed in the area provided using the following
  63.     format:
  64.  
  65.     name.ext, name.ext, name.ext, name.ext
  66.  
  67.     You may use any valid wildcard sequence, such as:
  68.  
  69.     name.*, *.diz, file????.bat
  70.  
  71.     Once you have selected the names of the documents to be removed, DocMan
  72.     will automatically remove those documents every time it is executed and
  73.     once every five seconds while it is in use.
  74.  
  75. 2.  To fully support the AutoRemove feature (outlined above) there is now
  76.     support for a new command line option.  The new option (\AUTOREMOVE)
  77.     is designed to be used from your "Startup" list.  To have DocMan use
  78.     the AutoRemove feature every time you start your system, follow this
  79.     procedure:
  80.  
  81.     1) Select the "Taskbar..." entry from the "Settings" folder of the
  82.        "Start" button.
  83.  
  84.     2) Select the "Start Menu Programs" tab.
  85.  
  86.     3) Click "Add...".
  87.  
  88.     4) Click the 'Browse" button, then locate "DocMan.EXE".
  89.  
  90.     5) On the command line, after the filename, type a space followed by:
  91.  
  92.        AUTOREMOVE
  93.  
  94.     6) Click "Next".
  95.  
  96.     7) When asked which folder to place the new shortcut in, select
  97.        "Startup".
  98.  
  99.     8) When asked to name the new shortcut, type "AutoRemove", then click
  100.        "Finish".
  101.                                                                 
  102. 3.  DocMan can now "remember" the options you have chosen.  This bug affected
  103.     a limited number of people (possibly none -- it was a strange one).  The
  104.     symptom of the bug was that the options you selected would be recorded
  105.     but not used.

  107. October 9, 1995:  DocMan 1.6
  108.  
  109. ** IMPORTANT ** -- Before installing DocMan, you must end all tasks that

  115. BUG FIXES:
  116.  
  117. 1.  DocMan will now allow you to save a document list to any location you
  118.     please.  The previous version forced the control file (*.sdl) to be
  119.     written to the same folder that the saved links were stored in.
  120.  
  121. 2.  DocMan will now refresh the document list after documents are protected.
  122.  
  123. NEW FEATURES:
  124.  
  125. 1.  DocMan now indicates which documents are protected ("[P]") and which
  126.     documents are unprotected ("[N]") in the document window.
  127.  
  128. 2.  DocMan now allows you to restore a document list simply by
  129.     double-clicking the control (*.sdl) file.
  130.  
  131.     To make this feature active, follow these easy steps:
  132.  
  133.     1.  Right-Click a saved document list control file (*.sdl) and select
  134.         "Open With..." from the context menu.
  135.     2.  Enter "Saved Document List" as the description.
  136.     3.  Ensure that the "Always use this program to open this file" check-box
  137.         is checked.
  138.     4.  Click the "Other..." button, locate DocMan.EXE, and double-click it.
  139.     5.  Click "OK".
  140.  
  141.     The next time you double-click a saved document list control file, it
  142.     will automatically become the current document list.  If you have
  143.     multiple users on your computer (but no network) you can each place
  144.     your saved document list control file(s) on the desktop as shortcuts
  145.     and swap between them instantly.
